African Jewellery - African Beaded Necklace
This African necklace would have traditionally been worn by an Ibo chief – which is in the eastern part of Nigeria. In many parts of Africa, African jewellery such as necklaces and earrings are worn for special ceremonies such as weddings, funerals and coming of age rituals. It is seen as a symbol of wealth and importance.
Ethnic jewellery such as African bracelets was once held in such high regard that they were actually used as money bracelets. Ethnic African jewellery is now worn by many, not just with traditional African attire, but also with more contemporary and western cloths and in fact very popular now and is great for adding the finishing touches to an outfit. This is a lovely piece of African jewellery, which would complement a wide range of attires.
