Divination Instrument – Spring Buck horn
Although it is known that this is an Ifa divination instrument, the actual name of the instrument if unknown. Ifa instruments are usually used by diviners during consultations sessions. A diviner is a seer and would be consulted in generally the same manner that a person would consult a tarot card reader. The diviner would act as an intermediary between this world and the spiritual world. People would go and consult with the diviner for the resolution for a host of problems from medical to social.
The divination instrument depicts a woman kneeling. Her kneeling figure has been incorporated into the design and natural pattern of the spring buck’s horn. This instrument would most probably been used in a shrine to an Orisha. This is a very unusal piece.
