This is an opon ifa also known as divination board. It is the primary tool of a diviner. A diviner is a seer and would be consulted in generally the same manner that a person would consult a tarot card reader. The diviner would act as an intermediary with the board in front of him. People would go and consult with the diviner for the resolution for a host of problems from medical to social. This tray has the face of Eshu caved on the top of it, representing ‘The All Seeing Eye’ along with the apparatus used by the diviner during sessions.
